Dr. Sarah Baillie is a licensed and board certified naturopathic doctor, practicing in Halifax since 1999.
As past co-president of the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors, she was involved in laying the foundation for NDs in Nova Scotia to be regulated.
Sarah's approach addresses all aspects of health - body, mind and spirit - using nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy and counseling. She has a special interest in the effects of stress on a person's wellbeing and a focus on perimenopausal and menopausal medicine.
Sarah prides herself on her ability to listen. While taking the time to see the whole picture, she can recommend treatment plans that are both individualized and manageable.
After graduating from Mt Allison University with a Bachelor of Science, Dr. Hayman earned her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the four year professional program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto.
Since 2005, Dr. Hayman has run a busy family practice, where she treats people of all ages for stress, fatigue, gastrointestinal complaints and hormonal imbalances. She is additionally certified in Nutritional IV therapy and Chelation, advanced treatments used for heart disease, heavy metal toxicity, fatigue, athletic recovery and cancer.
Dr. Hayman is one of few NDs who performs Live Blood Cell Analysis, a powerful tool that allows deeper understanding of her patient's health right down to the cellular level. She co-authored a published paper on the use of vitamins and herbs (Orthomolecular Medicine) in Schizophrenia.
She is currently the co-president of the NS Association of Naturopathic Doctors (NSAND) and is board certified with the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy-Naturopathy (BDDT-N).
Dr. Hayman is a passionate and energetic motivator who empowers her patients through education and helps them reach higher standards of health. In her spare time she can be found on the soccer field, in the park with her dog and enjoying her husband?s culinary artistry with family and friends.
Dr. Craig Herrington grew up in Victoria, BC and graduated from the University of Victoria. He then went on to study medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver, BC where he received the award for clinical excellence. Dr. Herrington was the chief clinician in Alberta for the groundbreaking study on the use of Naturopathic Medicine to prevent heart disease.
Dr. Herrington works with people of all ages and has a special focus on integrative cancer therapy, heart disease and diabetes, weight loss, pediatric medicine, digestive concerns, allergies, and sports medicine. Dr. Herrington is certified in IV and injection therapy which are used to increase the effectiveness of cancer therapies as well as boost immune function.
Dr. Herrington is a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors as well as the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
In his spare time Dr. Herrington enjoys the outdoors, is an amateur triathlete and spends time with his wife Shannon, and their twin boys Hayden and Elijah.
Dr. Maggie Pattillo grew up in Toronto, Ontario, and recently moved to Nova Scotia to join the team at Halifax Naturopathic Health Centre. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Queen's University and went on to achieve her doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto.
In her general family practice Maggie educates and encourages patients to take control of their health and treat the underlying cause of their condition. She treats patients of all ages, with a special interest in digestive disturbances, hormonal imbalances, healthy weight loss, and exploring the effect that the mind has on the body's physical state. As a former member of the Canadian National Ski Team, Maggie has a personal interest in the health issues faced by athletes at all levels. Maggie's specialized training includes nutritional IV therapy (individualized treatment used in cancer, fatigue, and conditions with compromised intestinal absorption), and sports nutrition and recovery. Her passion for nutrition and education has helped many patients achieve their health goals.
Maggie strives to maintain a balanced lifestyle by skiing, running, and playing ultimate frisbee, experimenting in the kitchen, and exploring her creative side through pottery and painting.

Sarah received her Diploma in Acupuncture from Eastern College. Sarah is trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is a part of the first graduating class trained in Halifax Nova Scotia. Sarah has a passion for helping clients obtain optimal health. She treats patients of all ages with special interest in stress, addictions, infertility, digestive issues, menopausal symptoms, muscular-skeletal pain, and mental emotional blockages and dietary therapy. Sarah also specializes in Acupuncture treatments with IVF.
Sarah is trained in the following TCM Modalities: Acupuncture, Cupping, Chinese dietary and lifestyle advice, Moxibustion, Gua Sha, Tui Na Massage, and Qi Gong.
Sarah also has an interest in helping patients keep their youthful glow. She is one of the few acupuncturists who is certified in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture "A Natural Alternative to Botox"
Sarah is passionate about acupuncture and in her spare time works on educating the public on the benefits that acupuncture can have on one’s life. Sarah offers FREE 15 minute acupuncture consultations for people wanting to know more about how acupuncture can benefit them.
Sarah strives to maintain a well-balanced life; she is active and enjoys participating in recreational sports. Sarah is excited to be part of the team at Halifax Naturopathic and enjoys working alongside naturopathic doctors!
Michael has seen the benefits of osteopathic treatment while treating thousands of patients in his clinical practice. He treats using osteopathic techniques and massage as needed. Michael is in his final year of study of osteopathy at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. He is an honours graduate of the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in Halifax, and a member of the Massage Therapists' Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS).
Born in Italy, and raised in Spain and Belgium, Michael has lived in Nova Scotia twenty years and currently makes his home in Dartmouth with his partner Michelle. He walks, swims, and has ongoing yoga and Qigong practices. He also believes in the effectiveness of meditation to calm a busy mind. Originally trained as an artist - he graduated with a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University - he still maintains a home-based studio and is passionate about all things artistic.
Michael is excited to be part of the team at Halifax Naturopathic Health Centre. He believes naturopathy and osteopathy combined can be a very effective for dealing with a multitude of health issues.
Candyce graduated from Dalhousie University with her Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing. For 17 years, she has practiced as a Registered Nurse in a variety of specialties including chronic & long-term care, hematology/oncology, bone marrow transplant, clinical trails, auto-immune diseases, and chronic renal failure.
In 2010, Candyce took her passion for illness prevention and healthy living to a new level. She trained in nutrition and natural therapy and obtained her Holistic Nutritional Consultant designation from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.
As a Registered Holistic Nutritional Consultant, Candyce's goal is to educate her clients about healthy living and proper nutrition to ultimately prevent disease and fight illness. This knowledge empowers clients to make healthy lifestyle choices and take control of their own health. Candyce also assists with menu planning, recipe suggestions, diet modifications, and delicious food/ingredient substitutions!
Her years of practical experience and in-depth health and wellness knowledge are a great asset to Halifax Naturopathic. Candyce's skills in the areas of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of prescribed therapies will help to ensure our clients receive the best options available to them.
Candyce is a member of the National Association of Nutritional Practitioners and a volunteer member on the Canadian campaign of "Prevent Cancer Now." She participates in a self esteem workshop throughout the HRM called OK-2-B-Me, where she educates school children and adults about the effects food can have on moods, self esteem, concentration, obesity, athletic performance, disease and illness prevention, as well as one's physical appearance.
Passionately involved in her children's lives, Candyce and her family lead an active lifestyle swimming, biking, running, playing soccer, and hiking. In her free time, Candyce enjoys gardening, cooking, running, and enjoying the peace and quiet of walking her dogs.
Nicole Hynes

Nicole joined the team at Halifax Naturopathic in June 2011. Nicole grew up in beautiful Cape Breton and graduated with honors from the Cape Breton Business College with a Professional Secretarial Diploma. She has served many years as an Office Administrator in the health care field where she has gained valuable knowledge and experience providing administrative support and assisting with providing quality patient care through her compassion, warmth, and positive attitude.
She has a developed a genuine interest in natural approaches to health care after experiencing the benefits of natural therapies first-hand.
In her spare time Nicole enjoys time spent in the great outdoors, staying fit, volunteering and supporting several Animal Rescue Foundations. At home her quiet time is spent experimenting in the kitchen, reading and relaxing with her Orange Tabby Cat, Lily.
Lauren Hughes
Administrative Assistant
Lauren joined the team at Halifax Naturopathic in May of 2012 after she finished her degree in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University, with Honours in Exercise Physiology. Lauren moved to Halifax from a small town North of Toronto, Ontario to attend Dalhousie University in September of 2008. She fell in love with the beautiful city by the ocean, and the warm, friendly people of the Maritimes. Lauren's passion for exercise, health and wellness stemmed from her experience working at a therapeutic health centre in her home town, where she was able to work closely alongside health professionals such as kinesiologists, massage therapists, holistic nutritionists. From this experience, Lauren gained a lot of insight into the holistic way of healing which led her to pursue a degree in Kinesiology with the ambition to become a Naturopathic doctor in her future endeavors.
Lauren is thrilled to be a part of the team at Halifax Naturopathic, which allows her to gain experience working with a multitude of natural health care practioners and obtain a good understanding of the concepts and methodology of various natural treatments.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys discovering and trying out new recipes, traveling, hiking and the outdoors, being active and horseback riding at every opportunity she gets.
